The reasons we are Maidstone’s dog-friendly place to eat and drink

We know that finding a dog-friendly pub in Maidstone can be tough. So with this, we have made our pub and restaurant a place that owners and their companions can feel at home. Here’s four reasons that the Black Horse Inn is Maidstone and Kent’s dog-friendly pub – and so much more.

Inclusive atmosphere

Dog-friendly pubs create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. They allow patrons to bring their furry companions, making it easier for dog owners to socialise and enjoy their time at the pub without worrying about leaving their pets at home. With this, our pub and bar area is open to you and your dogs.

Socialising opportunities

We are in a wonderful and scenic designated area in the Kent countryside – with plenty of outdoor space and great walks near by. We have the space to socialise your dogs with others, helping improve their dog skills and behaviour. Pubs can be seen as a real hub to do so, and we welcome this. Whilst we know the temptation of the pub grub for the dogs can be a lot, we suggest keeping some treats on hand for them.

Eat, drink, and stay with them

We’re more than a pub. We are a dog-friendly hotel. We have 34 rooms in total (with more in the works), close to the north downs for walks and views, with excellent transport links but still remaining rural. Our visitors greatly appreciate the independence and private outdoor courtyard spaces offered by our separate room accommodations, distinct from the main pub and restaurant building. A one-stop eat, drink and stay place for dog owners. What’s more, each dog we meet at the Black Horse Inn receives a hamper on check-in, with snacks and a small gift!

The dog loft

Whilst we don’t currently host dog events, there’s no reason dog owners and friends can’t meet in the dog loft. What’s the dog loft? This is a designated area with boundaries that means you can eat and drink with your pooches at The Black Horse Inn. It was inspired for those who travel with their dog(s), but are often unable to sit in and eat with them. Although we have always allowed dogs in our bar area, the demand to eat with them has grown so much that we thought we would do something about it. The area is located upstairs above our main bar area and separate from the main restaurant. A real cosy and welcoming place in keeping with the rest of the pub, it isn’t exclusively for guests with dogs – many visitors request to eat and drink in this space as they simply like it so much. It certainly isn’t the case that you’ll be ousted to a remote corner of the establishment!
